HPU announces holiday closure

BROWNWOOD – December 17, 2019 – Howard Payne University will be closed from Monday, Dec. 23, through Friday, Jan. 3, in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. Offices will reopen on Monday, Jan. 6.

HPU’s Office of Institutional Advancement (the Harrison House), located at 803 Center Ave., will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, and Tuesday, Dec. 31, to process end-of-the-year gifts. On Tuesday, Dec. 31, the public is invited to visit the Harrison House during open hours to enjoy hot chocolate and cookies with staff. Gifts can also be arranged to be made in person or by contacting Dr. Dale Meinecke, vice president for development, by phone at 325-649-8804 or e-mail at anytime throughout the Christmas break.

HPU’s spring 2020 semester begins on Monday, Jan. 13.

HPU names Michael Rodgers CFO, vice president

Mike Rodgers for webBROWNWOOD – January 19, 2016 – Howard Payne University recently named Michael Rodgers, Certified Public Accountant, as chief financial officer and vice president for finance and administration.

Since 2009, Rodgers has served as vice president of business and chief financial officer at Criswell College in Dallas. He has held several administrative roles at First Baptist Academy in Dallas and All Saints Episcopal School in Tyler and was an adjunct faculty member at Dallas Baptist University and Criswell College. He has additional experience working with the Dallas Seminary Foundation and with private accounting firms and has maintained his CPA license since 1979.

Rodgers received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio, a Master of Arts in Christian Education degree from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Master of Humanities degree from the University of Dallas.

At HPU, Rodgers will oversee business operations including finance, human resources and facilities and planning.

“Mr. Rodgers has a proven track record of excellence and commitment to Christian education,” said Dr. Bill Ellis, university president. “We’re delighted to welcome him as we start the spring 2016 semester at HPU.”

HPU’s Fishback promoted to associate vice president for business and human resources

Bill Fishback for webBROWNWOOD – June 30, 2015 – Howard Payne University announced today the promotion of Bill Fishback from assistant vice president for business and human resources to associate vice president for business and human resources. Fishback was also named interim chief financial officer and will join HPU’s executive team as a member of the university’s Administrative Council.

Fishback came to HPU in 1992 as chief financial officer and has overseen areas in advancement and administration. He is a part of HPU’s Staff Council which began under his leadership as chair in 2010. The council plays a vital role in advancing the exchange of information between the university’s staff members. He also recently managed the renovations of HPU’s Mabee University Center, a project which came in under budget and on time.

“We are proud of Bill’s numerous accomplishments at HPU,” said Dr. Bill Ellis, president. “He has served the university faithfully and we are pleased that he has accepted this new role on campus.”

Fishback graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in management from Texas Tech University. He and his wife, Cecil, a speech/language pathologist at Comanche Special Services SSA, have two adult sons, Chase and Chris.
